Taurus Upgrade
Meaningless taurus upgrades FTW! So i read on the internet that you can install a older duratec 24v motor throttle body on the vulcan V6, so i searched ebay and found one pretty cheap and figured why the hell not! My stock throttlebody is right under 2.5 inches and this one is just over 3, not the most exciting thing in the world but what the hell. Installation was actually more challenging than i thought, the throttlebody was made for a alum intake and i have a composite with lots of holes in and around the tbody. Also its a tad larger than the gasket on the intake, so it leaked, and also threw a TPS out of range CEL and then it threw lean codes after we set the TPS. So, the only way to fix this is with a sloppy favorite... PERMATEX RTV!
We cut out a piece of gasket paper, and then RTV'd the hell out of both sides, stuck it on, waited 15min and bam, fired up, no stumbling, no lean pop, nothing. Score 1 more for RTV. Ah yes i almost forgot, the throttle body blade hit the lower part of the intake opening a little so i sanded it down and then fired up the motor to clear out all the bits of plastic.
