Tims Lightning

Well Tim got his lightning this morning, he brought it back to the shop, cleaned it up good, and changed the oil, and we tossed it on the dyno for a baseline pull. It made 317hp 380ftlbs not bad for a 99, the tune went sub 10.0 AFR after 4000rpm and Tim said they run pretty restrictive timing, so after Timmy plugs in the SCT he will up the timing and change the fuel, along with tossing on a lower pulley he estimates in the 360whp 420tq range which should be easily achievable. Here are some pics and video of the dyno.

Roll Cage Installation Day One

Well we got started on the roll cage around 10, Removed the interior obviously and got it down to the bare metal. Had to beat the metal floor flat with a sledge hammer to weld the plates in. All in all we got pretty far, we even had a special guest appearance from Chris Lee!!

He did some welding and grinding for us in his Army getup. Good seeing you again CLR.

Corey and Eric (Civic Abuse)

The night we filmed the fiddy video, Corey and Eric had my camera, so they filmed a little bit of how they drive their honda's, every single day they get driven like this, Honda really builds amazing cars to take this kind of abuse all day. Please enjoy.

TKO is on the way

Today Ryan ordered the trans for the mustang, it will be coming in about 8 days. Excitement is high, even though he still needs a bellhousing and clutch disk, and he will probably have to change out his driveshaft yolks, the big part is out of the way, the 1800 dollar transmission. I will definately post pics of it when it arrives.

The demise of the fiddy (when sloppy mechanics get bored)

Well last night, terribly bored, the sloppy mechanics crew was at applebees... Corey was saying how bored he was, how all our projects are done, and there really isn't much to do right now. We were talking of buying a cheap caprice or something and stripping it and spraying it till it blows up. Blowing it up eh? The conversation was leading into destructiveness, and we started talking about the sadistic relationship I have with my fiddy, and figured the next best step was for me to destroy the thing.

Ideas were flowing, spray it with nitrous, no regulator, burnouts till the exhaust was glowing... no oil. The list goes on.

What we ended up doing is, heading to Matt's work and picking up the work truck, grabbing my fiddy and AJ's minibike. Going to an industrial park and the mayhem started, I did some farewell wheelies and started with the burnouts, while i did my burnouts Corey was spraying nitrous out of the bottle strait into the carb, and it was definitely making more power but too much nitrous and it was stalling out.

Eventually the police showed up and we had a chat with him, we tried to convince him to do some donuts and burnouts but he pussied out, hahahh. He said we would tell on him, what a cop out.

So then we went to Matt's Dad's Business lot, beat them even more, more nitrous and then we got impatient so we drained the oil out of it, and drove it around even more, more rev limiter, more red hot exhaust...

This thing is amazing the amount of abuse it was taking, and well, with no oil it still ran, and sounded like it was fine, hahaha so we decided to add water, instead of oil, this was the ticket, it steamed up and was pouring out of the pcv after this the engine was getting only a tiny bit louder, so we held it on the rev limiter in 1st gear for a till it died... which took a surprising amount of time.

After it died, seemed to seize up, AJ and Eric told me to try and start it again. I gave it a simple, very lackluster kick, and the damn thing fired right up, instantly Corey grabbed the throttle wide open and it started to sputter, so he responds with kicking the shit out of the side of it and it tachs out once more, then slowly comes down and stops again.

This time there was no restarting the fiddy.

125 motor swap soon to happen. Stay tuned.

I am also going to be trying my best to score some 10s. Wish us luck. Video and pics tomorrow.

Sevens Stereo

Tonight we installed sevens car stereo, its a shame, and i hate to tell you but i will warn you early, we dont have any pics or video. Everyone was doing something so no one really had time to take pics, It is a shame because we were really going nuts, if we had it on video you would surely be laughing out loud at our comments and work ethic. If you can imagine how all the parts of a GM car snap out of place, and having us pitch them all over the place. We still managed to do a great job, ran a powerline for an amp. Installed the Head Unit and Sirius Satellite tuner, Subwoofers, Amp, everything you can think of, extremely fast and very clean. Maybee i will get pics of the finished install even though they arent as much fun as progress pics. Just imagine corey yelling "if its not a hack job i dont wanna see it" and "if there arent any broken GM snaps or missing bolts i'm going home". hahhahahahah

Today i got my leather pants in the mail, so now i can do 120+mph at the track and not get yelled at, Its nice i have them now anyways, if i go down i dont want to turn into sausage hahaha. I also got my sprocket, me and corey installed it today, 14 tooth -1 down in the front, so i should drop some time with that. I actually just tossed the sprocket in without even taking pics, ive been bad with the not taking pics today, i will try to remmeber them next time i am doing a project. Atco Raceway Dec 3rd

Well after the long drive down we were rewarded with some great weather and a nice day of racing, everyone improved their times and I even got kicked out again, its seriously time to get some pants, I should have them for the protection anyway. Here is the breakdown

  • Cobra ran: 10.56 @ 125 with a 1.51 60ft! (previous best was a 10.99 unported stock blower, Now with the 100 shot)
  • 636 ran: 11.041 @ 130 1.9 60ft (previous best was an 11.25@131, no additional mods since last time)
  • AJ's Van: 15.3 @ 90 (previous best was a 17.9 @ 81, 75hp wet nitrous kit installed)

The Cobra does make more power as shown in the timeslip, but it didnt gain much of a mph, we are thinking this is still due to the sock unported blower restricting flow, once the car hits it gets great power in the 3500-4500rpm range. It really dies out up top, we are gunna try going back down to the 50 shot and putting in more timing and see if we can bring up the power on the end of the powerband, or start shifting earlier, and see if there is improvement yet left in there.

The Van was doing very well, shaved almost 3 seconds off his time, however unfortunately it broke something in the drivetrain on the last run, there is still much debate on weither to install another trans and spray bigger, or get another cheap car and swap the nitrous kit and tach etc.

The Bike is doing very well too, I havent done anymore modifications, im just getting better at launching, hopefully I can start cutting into the 1.8 range on the 60ft that will be awesome, any lower than that will be amazing times.

Nitrous Cobra Dyno Day

Well, immediately after AJ's dyno runs, we put the cobra on the lift and installed the bottle in the trunk, ran the nitrous line up into the engine bay. Next we installed the digital window switch and fabricated a bracket that looks damn near stock, it holds a microswitch for the WOT switch for the nitrous. removed the test port on the fuel rail, installed the fuel feed line... Wired up the tach signal driver, connected the microswitch to the digital window switch, and connected the nitrous lines, after all of this we removed the intake plenum and drilled and tapped it for the wet nozzle that we used on the rental car actually. Got it in and installed with no problem at all. Tested all of the wiring and everything looked good. We installed 50shot jets and rolled it off the lift and onto the dyno. What happened next was surprising to say the least. Even though its known that cobras with the blowers make insane power on small amounts of spray it was still stunning to see on a 50 shot it made 73whp and 72ftlbs and the 100 shot it made 134whp and 177ftlbs INSANE!

  • Stock Pull: 460RWHP 527RWTQ
  • 50 Shot: 533RWHP 599RWTQ
  • 100 Shot: 594RWHP 704RWTQ

The Nitrous MiniVan

We got to the dyno nice and early today to dyno the van before AJ had to goto work. Bottle pressure was a little low, and fuel was very rich. In spite of all the negatives it still made much more power than stock. We are going to have to order some nitrous jets and fuel jets and come up with a custom shot because over 5k this thing goes sub 10.0 here is the dyno charts from stock and the 75 shot.

Car made 124whp and 145ftlbs stock, Today it made 176hp and 224ftlbs. with a little larger nitrous jet and a slightly smaller fuel jet this should go into the 200whp range easy.

The Van LIVES!

Well it all went well, after some tension over weither or not the trans would hold the power of the nitrous shot, or just cease to work all together, we were rewarded with some easy testing and operation tonight, filled the bottles, purged the lines, and then AJ took it for a spin. Well, it spins the tires no problem in 1st when you hit it hahah, and it didnt blow the trans, we even had some time to do some highway pulls to make sure it would spray all the way thru 2nd so its safe for the dyno and track. We didnt really want to be mopping up trans fluid and whatnot from tims dyno. Dyno time is tomorrow at 830AM sharp. This is gunna be something great, i cant wait to see the gains. Here are some pics of the finalized setup and the bottle, Video is below the pics.
