Went to the dragstrip today
everyone had a good day today, corey almost hit 10s and we were all damn near shitting bricks. Costas also did extremely good, I got his slower run on video but, im sure AJ will post the faster one and i can include that one onto the site later. Here is a breakdown of everyones best runs.
- Corey 11.05 @ 125
- Costas 11.4 @ 130
- Ryan 12.0 @ 123
Everyone did Amazing! The only sad thing is after ryan was just getting his launches down and ran a 12.0 his rockers started ticking, it didnt sound like anything really bad, but we sure as hell werent going to drive it or race it anymore, and we knew it would have to be trailered home. So we had AAA tow it back to his house, now i fell asleep for the rest of the night because im sick and i was up for 40 some hours, hahaha. Anyway i got a text message from ryan that 3 rockers were so loose you could move them about a 1/4 of an inch by hand. EEK! But he also reports that nothing else is broken! WEWT! Anyway i know you are dying to see the videos. Here you go.
Corey in the cobra
Costas in the supra

Mustang Street Tuning
sorry not a whole lot of updates lately, but we have been street tuning the mustang and playing with the two step etc, making sure the car doesnt do anything funny on the rev limiters etc, basically beating the shit out of it to make sure nothing will break while we are at the track, thats the neat thing also. The car is going to the track sunday, we will finally get our shakedown runs.
We decided to start off playing at 8psi and not using the two step for launching. Just be careful with the thing and hope for the best hahahah. Been tuning the boost controller for best boost hold in all situations. Got out a few times today in between little rain storms. Just wanted to let you all know, expect some 1/4 mile footage of some of the craziest Sloppymechanics cars available, The roster includes, but is not limited too...
- Ryans 331 turbo rusty
- Costas's Supra on racegas
- Corey's Cobra shooting for 10s
- Tims saleen
Fun should be had by all, and im sure you will enjoy the videos!

a view of AEM
here is a neat shot of the AEM software on our first 11psi pull that was a little rich, but this gives you a neat look at the software at work, you can see incoming air temps dropping like a rock, boost holding around 11psi, and the mph flying up.
rusty gets to play on the street
just after the tune we set the boost at 10psi and had some fun up the road at tims shop. yes those are hot mickey thompson et streets laying nasty rubber in 3rd gear.

The rusty getting an early tune
well we never planned on getting the rusty on the dyno, but everyone wanted to see it pull so we pooled the cash together to make the dyno pulls. We definately made good power, but the plugs fouled out early, and we didnt bring extras because we werent really prepared to put it on the dyno today, so we took what we got power wise, and we will probably be back next week for some fresh spark plug runs. Please enjoy some video! ;-)

Lots of work done tonight
Installed the header and downpipe so we could mock fit the turbo to make sure everything would clear, then we tack welded the top and made some measurements. After everything looked good fitament wise, Kieth and Ryan finish welded the flange to the header. Shortly after everything started to fly together. New oil line fittings, bolted the turbo in place, clocked the oil feed and return and clocked and test fitted the charge pipes off the compressor side. Permatex copper on the turbo and flange, and on the header connecting to the head, its sitting till tomorrow to make sure all that settles right. Then, while installing the cross over pipe one of the bolts got fizunked on the other header where it bolts to the collector, so we have to retap the threads on the bolt and see if it goes in nice, if it doesnt it all gets drilled bigger and nuts, bolts and washers are replacing it to make a tight fit. Once that is in place, we can install the charge pipe from the turbo to the intercooler, top off the coolant, cross our fingers and start her up.
As always, here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

new turbo in!
Got the new turbo in, ran around like crazy getting the bolts and hardware needed to get it assembled, and didnt get as far as we would have liked to, someone stopped by to check out the jeep and they said they would buy it. So that ended up absorbing alot of the time. Here are some pretty pics of the new turbo. Comparisons to the old one etc.

turbo prep
So today i cleaned off the heads and crossover pipe, pulled the altornator bracket off and the thermostat pipe, Ryan cut the old flange off the turbo and we mushroomed it out to fit the t4 flange on. When the turbo comes in tomorrow, we will tack weld and test fit, then finish weld and assemble the kit, then it has to sit for at least 12 hours to really solidify the permatex copper. so friday morning we can roll out of bed at noon and start her up and start street tuning. Here are your pics
Some pics from dyno day
here are some pictures i took at the dyno, nothing that spectacular but there really isnt any updates today so i figured i would toss up these pics for you to enjoy.

Mikes supra
Mike was on the dyno today tuning his car on some racegas, it made 625whp on 21psi, it wasnt making much power over 21psi im not sure why, he didnt have a lot of time to screw around with it on the dyno but with some tweaking it should be a high 600s possibly low 700whp car. Enjoy the video.
Bens Duramax
Well ben stopped up at the dyno to see the supras get tuned and make some pulls. Couldent go on the dyno because you need a special magnetic pickup to get RPM on diesels. So he showed off his toy to all the guys at the dyno 4wd launch full boost and then a hellatious burnout.
This truck runs a 12.9 @ 108mph and makes in the 600whp 1000+ ftlb range AWESOME
Costas Tuned
Well today all the hard work paid off, me and corey got costas's supra on the dyno bright and early around 9am. Tuned the vpc with a very conservative safe tune on the dyno, made great hp and tq on pump gas. For now, he doesnt want people to know the actual numbers but im sure they will come out someday. Either way here is some video of the car, Sounds amazing with the Garret Dual ball bearing GT series 67mm.
lots of running around today
Early in the morning my friend joe drove up from MD to go on a bike ride, even though it was a little cold, we went thru at least a half a tank of gas screwing around. Met up with Ryan and eventually Tom and Ben came in the duramax diesel. Dropped off the bikes at my house and took the cars, Stopped at toms house first, apparently they finished the t88 supra and were touching up the idle. Someone forgot to tighten the cam belt cover or whatever holds the belt from slipping off, im not sure what it is, haha. Either way the figured it out and had the car out on the street, Things were awry as you would expect, they just threw the car together in the last few days, oil leaks and a problem with the wastegate being at the top of the list. We had to leave and go help corey install a clutch in costas's supra. Installing snap rings in a supra pressure plate is a 3 man job, we got them in and quickly enough the trans went in with the help of ryan and corey crawling under and jamming it in place. Vince brought down costas at 1130 to pickup the supra, started it up and walah, wouldent you know it everything was working fine, we rolled out with the corey's cobra, the 350z, Vinces cobra, and costas's newly installed clutch, not to mention he has a t67 boost logic kit with less than 800 mi on it. The cruise was a sucess, sat in the cold at sheetz and drank hot chocolate and coffee. Dyno day is tomorrow, some supras, and possibly a duramax diesel (ben if he doesnt break the dyno) will all get runs!
More news, pics video etc, of the dyno event tomorrow. Later Kiddies.

Diesel!
Well today i got to meetup with tom and ben, i got to take a spin in bens duramax diesel truck that runs high 12s at 108mph, Insane is the only way to describe it, 7200lb truck making 600+hp and 1000+ ftlbs to the wheels makes for a crazy ride on the street. Its so fast you are constantly overpowering the brakes and skidding chirping the ABS to a stop. We even were honored by getting soot clouded on the highway twice. Not much action and no pictures or video today. Tomorrow is the big day for the supras on the dyno, and even the diesel might get a pull on the dyno. That! i assure you will be tons of media coverage, of the supras and the diesel on the dyno.

new exhaust tips and some timing
well we decided to play with the truck a little bit more today, ryan bought a set of exhaust tips because he didnt like the ones that are on it, and they were starting to rott out anyways. so we cut them out, and welded on extensions and then welded the tips in place, really really weird now because the truck sounds exactly like a diesel. We also noticed the the truck was a little sluggish on the acceleration side. So we decided to add some timing, pulled the spout and the timing dropped to what looked like 5 degrees, whew, thats low, bumped it to like 12 without the spout connected, idle and on throttle acceleration both improved! Now we just need to ad more!
Turbo ordered
Ryan has just ordered a turbo for the mustang
t4 .81ar 3inch vband down hotside,T67 (66mm) 4 inch inlet coldside Tomzilla special
from camp1320.com. We now have to wait for it and weld on the t4 flange to the turbo header, and we are back in buisness!
I'm excited beyond thought right now.

Bill's Headlights
today, sloppy mechanics worked on a german car. We installed Ecodes in Bills A4, had to actually cut part of the body off the fenders to fit the lights, and cut and replace the stock headlight wiring harness, all in all it came out very good.
We even test fitted the blown 60mm in bills headlight housing :-)

taking care of the truck today
took the truck out to eric at the ford dealer, scanned it over and it has 3 codes,
327 - DPFE or EVP circuit below minimum voltage of 0.2 volts.
334 - DPFE or EVP circuit above the closed limit of 0.67 volts.
624 - Electronic Pressure Control solenoid or driver circuit failure
its looking like the egr is throwing both 3xx codes, it also looks like its just a bad sensor on the top, the connector is a bit corroded.
the 624 someone said is probably the selenoid right next to the egr, it looks like that whole little harness is throwing codes. So he said check out the harness for breaks in the wire before replacing anything.
Anyways, i also replaced the wires on the truck today, since they were arching like crazy. It runs great now accept for the exhaust leak. As always here are some pics of the work.

A Fast day at the dragstrip today
I talked to tom ritt about 2 seconds ago, and he just informed me the Duramax Diesel silverado, the Featured car on our homepage, ran a 12.9 @ 109 1.96 60ft INSANE!
In more crazy dragstrip news, corey ran an 11.26 @ 122mph on a 1.62 60ft today, and got kicked out, right after corey ran, his brother ran a 11.36 and was also promtply kicked out of the raceway. neither of them have cages. hahahaha. here is corey's slip.
Sevens Z
I wanted to post up a pic of sevens latest addition to the Z. Also, he had his timesheets with him and the one was too hard to see, i snapped a pic of this one really quick, enjoy! :SHOCKER:
Pulled the turbo, checked the head
Well, we pulled the turbo off today, me, Seven, and Ryan. You can obviously see where the 2nd and 3rd over were leaking, the 3rd extremely bad. The inserts on the middle were a little screwed up from the header not going on so great, its from the header warping at high heat, we need to drill out the bolt holes a little bit to get it to line up better without forcing the middle out of alignment, i retaped the middle, you can see pics below. You can also see a picture of a spark plug, cyl #1 it looks damn near brand new. the rest of the plugs on the right side look the same, so thats right after some WOT pulls so the car is running DAMN good. The last pic is the turo ripped apart, thats going to fuel injection supply co. tomorrow for some estimates on rebuilding.
Tims Dyno
Here is a shot of tims signs and building, I have nothing but good things to say about tims service.
Mustang Dyno Sheet
here is the dyno sheet, the initial run scanned. this one leans out on the top. we worked that out, but its the only printout i have for now. Enjoy!
ryans new truck
well ryan got to pickup his new truck today here is a quick shot of it, with another pic i took today.

Mustang on the dyno today
Well, we put the mustang on the dyno today, and got the air fuel all dialed in. It made amazing power, more than we expected, 460rwhp and 524ftlbs to the wheels, at only 8psi and 18 degrees timing. Awesome power. As we started to plan turning the boost up to 10psi, halfway thru the run, the ebay turbo decided to let go. So that puts an end to the tuning day, here are some pics, and video for you to enjoy.

took out the mustang for a street tune, and some video
Well, with me and ryan bringing in the tune on the mustang getting it ready for the dyno session tomorrow, zig and seven were driving my car and filming, here are some clips. Also, the heater core blew while we were driving, figures.... took it home and bypassed that and now its good for the dyno.
Got the mustang all ready to go
Well, got it all good and ready to go, we pushed it out and cleaned off the engine bay here are some shots!
Wess, street racing champion.
Thats right, World Street Racing Champion was out and about, enjoy the pics!

ITS ALIVE!
Today we fired it up, Ryan had the idle smoothed out from the other night, we also had to replace the coolant temp sensor. Apparently the connector got corroded and was reading the wrong voltage. Well, we took it out on the street, and first impression of part throttle in 1st was amazing, barely touching the gas it just went forward like it was being pushed by a diesel truck, and when we came around the first turn and he hit it in 2nd gear, we damn near shit ourselves, he pressed it to about 1/4 throttle and our ears were met with the sound of the wastegate screaming open, shoulders being pressed into the seat, and ear to ear smiles that would no go away. Turning around and coming back to the house, generous throttle in 2nd gear produced a sideways action in the rear end, and even bigger smiles. Now, we don't want to get ahead of ourselves like before, even i suggested that we park it for the night, Tomorrow is the day we dial everything in, and we are looking for a dyno session saturday if its possible.
I cant believe what it did at just 6psi of boost, i don't think i can imagine what its going to do at 14...

Ready to go, minor tweaks
Well, ryan got the spacer today from summit. They sent him a 1 inch instead of a half inch, blarg. Thankfully they have a full machine shop at his work, so he was able to go in today and shave it down to a half inch. In other news the rest of the car is put together, aside from the hood, the charge pipes are on, the radiator is in. As always some random stuff has to go wrong everytime. This time the Schrader valve on the fuel line started leaking fuel... makes no sense, but after taking it off, reseating the pin, and re-tightening it it seems to be ok now. Letting the car run for a little while and not bleeding the cooling system yet = water getting hot. Basically shut it down for the night and let it cool off. Gunna go at it again tomorrow, no point in rushing it now. As always here are some pics for you. Sloppy mechanics approved coolant filter, a paper towel, hahaha.

sevens lug key adventure
well, someone tightened the fuck out of his rims last time they worked on them, most likely rothrock, while loosening the wheels, to put on the old rims, and do some parking lot drifto action, wich we were going to video tape, the fucking key split open, so me and the mad scientist welded the key back together, first try at taking the lugs off again, the shit rips again right outside the weld hahahah enjoy the pics.

Great News! and a bummer...
Well, its all done, the motor is installed, and we even fired it up and it runs great! On the jackstands! We noticed the crank pulley is off about a half inch, so ryan has to order a spacer, and it wont ship till monday at the earliest. Looks like it will be done tuesday if he buys next day. After that we have to install the rad and up pipe and down pipe.
In addition Corey was nice enough to donate his bilstein shocks off of the cobra, and we installed them in the fox body today, now the damn thing has a brand new suspension. The only thing in the suspension that was stock, was the front shocks. The car sounds, revs, and idles totally different from before, we were surprised how well it fired up and started right away from being apart and together, we didnt even feel like playing with the tune so we just wanted to see if it would fire as is.
Now that it got to get a little warmed up, Beezer (Beezer Built Race Engines & Machining) reccomended that we re torque the intake manifold bolts, headers etc, now that it is heat cycled, so we will do that tomorrow, maybee install the hood, little things. Here are some pics, Corey installing new spark plugs, and the motor in running condition without the charge pipes or radiator lol. Just updated with Pics of the new (used) Bilstein shocks installed and the old original 1989 shocks removed.
Here is video of it running, please pardon the smoke, its all the junk (oil coolant power steering fluid etc) on the headers burning off. It is also obviously running rich, so its puffing a lil smoke. Enjoy
